Your friend is lying to you

You have a friend.

They’ve been your friend for a while.

You guys catch up almost daily.

You romanticise together.

They tell you what to do.

You listen and act without question.

They’re slowly dictating your life,

you don’t even realise it.

In fact they’re your worst enemy.

The more you listen to them, the more you trust them.

They influence your thoughts when you wake up and follow you around throughout the day, constantly telling you how you could have done better.

They tell you not to approach that pretty girl, ask your boss for a promotion or start a new project because you might fail.

This person is you, the inner you, your thoughts.

You know these thoughts aren’t real, but somehow they’re gripping you, pulling you backwards like you’re trying to walk through water against the current.

You see your real friends making progress in life, they’re floating above the water, in a boat, drifting effortlessly with direction. You wonder how you can get into that boat too.

Suddenly, your real friend throws you an anchor.

It hits the sea floor, and attached to it is a blank book with a pen. You start writing about your fears and struggles.

You write about the things holding you back.

You write about the thoughts in your mind.

You write about what is making you sad.

You write about what is making you scared.

With each word, the tide drifts lower and lower.

You keep writing out your struggles and suddenly the water is hovering just above your knees.

You start to feel free.

You’re able to walk forward and move easily. It feels awesome.

You’re almost able to run. Run out and jump on that boat

You keep writing about all the fears that occupy your mind

Suddenly you’ve built up enough momentum to launch yourself forward, swim and board the boat.

The feeling of joy and accomplishment is real, your friends are cheering around you, jumping and celebrating your victory.

The boat is heading to the place you’ve always dreamed of.

It’s the place where all your aspirations, ideas and wishes live.

You’re free to build towards them, without anything holding you back.

You see friends, I’m throwing you an anchor.

Encouraging you to journal your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Ask yourself what is holding you back?

Those inner thoughts will fade with time, the more you write about them.

No one else knows this yet but it’s called:

The Subtle Art of Standing the F*ck out

It teaches you methods I’ve learned over the years on how you can differentiate yourself online and create your own niche.

I will send it to those on my E-Mail list here on Thursday ;)
